This month we get to know houston's newest lifestyle blogging dynamic duo
How did the Tiny Two start Talking?-- how did you guys meet and begin your lifestyle blogging journey?
We met almost 3 years ago – a mutual friend introduced us. We are both not from Houston so it was nice to get more QUALITY girl friends. In August of last year we decided to be roommates and we kept discussing things we liked and wanted to share with our friends. More and more we would talk about how a blog could be a cool idea, and then finally at the end of 2015, we came up with “The Tiny Two Talk” – once you meet us you’ll see why we call ourselves that (we’re under 5’3”). It’s been a blast so far!
What is your favorite hidden gem in Houston?
Our favorite hidden gem is a dive Mexican restaurant called La Guadalupana on Dunlavy. Their breakfast food (la mexicana taco $2.50), right down the street from where we live is amazing with an iced Texas pecan coffee from Agora - perfect way to start any morning. Also La Guadalupana has amazing coffee that has a cinnamon taste to it that's AWESOME.
Tell us what your favorite foodie guilty pleasure is!
Carley – Charcuterie plate - I can devour that thing in a second as long as there is some good cheese and prosciutto...mouth is currently watering
Lindsay - Cheese. Any kind. Any way. Just as long as it's in my mouth :)
Who is the mastermind behind your beautiful photos? Top food photography tip?
Funny question – we inherited Carley’s dad’s old camera (Nikon D300S), and since then it’s really UPPED our photo game. We both enjoy taking photos and then for our fashion shoots we rope one of our friends to take the photos for us. We then thank them with food, booze, or a big hug. When we don't have the massive camera with us, our iPhone photos (when focused) don't come out so bad!!
What is your favorite thing to cook together? Tell us a foodie memory that you two share.
So we recently just signed up for Blue Apron! This has been a very fun experience and we plan on making a post about it and what we’ve cooked and eaten so far. The food is awesome! Great way to have multiple types of meals for a week. Another favorite foodie memory is when we made these bite-sized protein balls and tried to use the boomerang app for the very first time. Oh My. We did at least 20 outtakes until one wasn't embarrassing for us to put on our IG account.
Can you two describe each other in five words?
Carley – I would describe Lindsay as fun, friendly, intense (in a good way :-P), active, and caring
Lindsay - I would say Carley is sweet, positive, competitively sporty, creative and genuine.
Any advice for people thinking of starting a blog/instagram?
Just go for it! It took us almost a year before we actually took the first step to launch a blog and it’s been such a great experience – We've had the opportunity to meet so many amazing people and attend some really fun events since the launch. We will say that blogging is definitely more time consuming then we initially thought, but it's been well worth it!!
